We are offering some limited guitar amplifier services here on Martha's Vineyard, MA. Currently, we are in a position to offer service on some tube type amplifiers, particularly those without any additional solid state circuitry. You can check out some of the amplifier repair projects we have done in the past here.
We have been tinkering with electronic devices since high school (mid 1960s). Since then, we have serviced and tweaked our own amps and guitars. Our amplifier experience is mostly with vintage (mid 70's and slightly newer) tube style amps. Solid state amps are much more difficult for us to deal with without service manuals, and parts are a lot more diversified and difficult to source, so we are, at this point, reluctant to take them on, depending on the symptoms. Tube amps, on the other hand, are simpler to troubleshoot, especially the older point-to-point wired types. The newer style which incorporate circuit boards, and possibly some solid state circuitry, can be a bit more troublesome, but at least the circuits are usually very similar to the older point-to-point types. Often, the issue is simply one of a failing tube, which is easier to source and to replace. We do have the capability to test audio tubes, and will be trying to keep some of the common ones in stock.
