We are starting to offer some guitar amplifier services here on Martha's Vineyard, MA. Currently, we are in a position to offer some limited service on tube type amplifiers. You can check out some of our recient amplifier repair projects here.
We have been tinkering with electronic devices since high school (mid 1960s). Since then, we have serviced and tweaked our own amps and guitars. Our amplifier experience is mostly with vintage (mid 70's and newer) tube style amps. Solid state amps are much more difficult to deal with without service manuals, and parts are a lot more diversified and difficult to source, so we are, at this point, reluctant to take them on, depending on the symptoms. Tube amps, on the other hand, are simpler to troubleshoot, especially the older point-to-point wired types. The newer style which incorporate circuit boards, can be a bit more troublesome, but at least the circuits are usually very similar to the older point-to-point types. Often, the issue is simply one of a failing tube, which is easier to source and to replace. We do have the capability to test audio tubes, and will be trying to keep some of the common ones in stock.
