Epiphone Dot Studio Broken Headstock - Home
February 2012
We like to ocasionally check out eBay for "guitar projects" to see if anything interresting shows up. We had been seeing a bunch of nice Gibsons with broken headstocks (a classic problem for guitars with angled headstocks that have fallen down). As a result, we had become somewhat curious as to how hard it was to repair a broken headstock, and stumbled on this quitar - an Epiphone Dot Studio with what appeared to be a fairly clean break with plenty of surface area for gluing. The nut and truss rod appeared to be unaffected by the break as well. We also really liked the natural mahagony finish! We decided that this might be a good candidate for our first attempt at repairing a broken headstock, and, luckily, we won the auction for a reasonable price.
So, again, we really don't NEED another guitar, but we ought to be able to learn something from this one...
