The Stand
We had an old Vox Super Beatle stand that we had sometimes used to set the original Super 6 in when gigging. It made it easy to roll around, and we would sometimes use the top for recording equipment. Here you see the stand with the cut down Super 6 bottom cab sitting on it.
The stand is made up of three pieces - the base with casters, and short uprights, and the top in two pieces, joined in the middle at the top. These are made from steel pipe with a, conveniently, 3/4" inside diameter. The original joints used short pieces of pipe that fit inside the 3/4" pipe. A 3/4" wood dowel fit perfectly, so we cut the two top pieces down as short as possible - 1" below the top cross piece - and inserted short pieces of the dowel in place of the original short pieces of smaller pipe.
The stand pieces then fit together nicely, and became a perfect size for the new Super 6 configuration.
We will add some sort of more permanent cross pieces at the bottom to support the cab such that it wont be able to slide around too much. Below is a mock up of how the two cab pieces will sit in the stand.
Once the glue dried on the bottom and top pieces, we got back to the cabs (previous section).
