The Grill

The next step was to cut down the original grill. We wanted to use the original grill and grill cloth if possible, even though the grill cloth had a couple of tears. We can always replace the cloth later if desired. Here we see the original Super 6 grill.

After removeing some staples, we cut the grill cloth a bit above where the frame will be cut, to leave enough to wrap around the top of the bottom piece, and folded a piece back so we could cut the grill frame. We will be cutting more off of the bottom of the top piece, so we will have plenty of cloth left on the top piece to wrap around the bottom of it.

Once the bottom piece of the frame was cut, we were able to fold the flap back, and restaple it.

After cutting the top piece to the proper height, we glued in a new piece to complete the bottom of the frame, and restapled the grill cloth.

Here they are in place for a mock up. Hmmmm.... We are going to need a second Fender Logo...
